Calling all artists residing in the Island of Ireland! 

In June 2023 NExIS proudly launched its first ‘eXtended reality in aRt’ competition.

XaRt 

With grants provided by the Munster Technological University Arts Office CREATE Le Chéile fund, the NExIS team commissioned three works challenging artists to channel and celebrate immersive reality technology, asking them to explore the possibilities of using immersive technologies for artistic expression. Three €800 prizes were offered, and through the summer successful artists developed their ideas in collaboration with NExIS experts using facilities across Munster Technological University Cork and Kerry campuses.

We caught up with artists twice during the Autumn for face-to-face meetings at the XRIL in Cork and ACE in Kerry, to brainstorm, discuss progress and preview results.
